The Amherst, Nova Scotia unit of Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons

Abegweit is a  member of the Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons with an aim to increase boating safety and enjoyment by providing instruction in both power and sail. We are a charitable, membership-type organization, incorporated under the Companies Act of Canada. Except for a small paid staff at the national office, all teaching and administrative work is done by volunteers. CPS is non-governmental, non-regulatory and non-military. It is not restricted to boat owners, nor owners of large yachts. Purely and simply, it is a dedicated group interested in increasing safety and pleasure on the waterways through education. We are a volunteer organization dedicated to teaching and promoting safe boating. During the more than 60 years of existence, our organization has gained a wealth of knowledge, skill and experience that we share through various training programs we offer to the public. We offer boating courses and seminars including  the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC).
